The Minister was pleased to learn that a number of churches in the Federal Republic of Nigeria had been named after some of the Ugandan martyrs including Matia Mulumba, Kizito and Lwanga. He urged the participants at the Expo to travel to the Pearl of Africa so they can see where the martyrs stayed and prayed from before they were killed on the orders of King Mwanga of the Buganda Kingdom in 1886.

Speaking at the same function, Uganda’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Amb. Nelson Ocheger informed participants that Uganda, which enjoys good political and diplomatic relations with the host country; is gifted by nature, a wonder to explore and tour, secure, safe and easy for visitors to get around and very ideal for exotic lovers. He thanked the organisers for inviting Uganda to the Expo and urged them to promote intra-Africa tourism.

Earlier during the event, Rev. Paul Muwanga narrated the Martyrs story to the attentive audience, most of who were from Africa. Uganda Tourism Board manned a spectacular stall which included some Ugandan tour and travel operators.

The function was attended by dignitaries from Nigeria, Ghana, Seychelles, Trinidad and Tobago and the Gambia.
