Amb. Nelson Ocheger presents credentials to President Allassane Quattara

Uganda's new envoy to the Republic of Cote D' Ivoire, Amb. Nelson Ocheger has presented letters by which President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni accredits him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uganda to the Republic of Cote D'Ivoire.

In a colourful ceremony which took place on July 13, 2018 at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan, Amb. Ocheger used the opportunity to assure his host of Uganda's commitment to further consolidate the cordial bilateral relations that exist between the two countries.

He stressed the need for closer commercial cooperation between Uganda and Cote D'Ivoire in investment, trade and tourism. He also called for closer technical collaboration in agriculture, education and infrastructural development.

In his response, President Allassane Quattara stated that his country cherishes intra- Africa trade and welcomed Uganda's commitment to improve commercial relations between the two sisterly countries in particular and Africa generally. He informed his guest that Cote D'Ivoire has witnessed tremendous economic growth since the end of civil unrest in 2011, adding that time is ripe for the two countries to work together for the benefit of their peoples.

Present at the ceremony included, among others, Hon. Marcel Amon- Tanoh, Ivorian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Nurh Byarufu of Uganda High Commission in Abuja, Nigeria.
