Amb. Nelson Ocheger presents credentials to President Muhammadu Buhari

Amb. Nelson Ocheger has presented, to the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the letter of credence accrediting him as the High Commissioner of the Republic of Uganda to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

During the ceremony which took place on March 1, 2018, Amb. Ocheger conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to President Muhammadu Buhari and wished him good health and prosperity to the people of Nigeria.

Thanking his host for the warm welcome and hospitality that has been extended to him since his arrival to Nigeria, Amb. Nelson Ocheger informed his host of his commitment to scale up commercial and economic cooperation between the two countries that share a common vision of socio-economic transformation of their peoples.

The new Ugandan envoy to Nigeria also called for closer defense and security cooperation between the two countries in order to fight insurgencies and terrorism in their respective countries and regions. In this vain, Amb. Nelson Ocheger expressed sympathies to his host for the pain that Nigeria is going through following the abduction, by suspected terrorists, of the innocent girls from Yobe State in the northern part of the country.

In his response, President Muhammadu Buhari warmly welcomed Amb. Nelson Ocheger to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and assured him of his government's commitment to enable him effectively represent Uganda.

President Muhammadu Buhari informed the new Uganda envoy that his government was ready to share experiences and work with the government of Uganda to promote cooperation in the sectors of energy, capacity building, transport, defense and security.
