Common African platform essential to promote commercial diplomacy

The Niger State Government and the Republic of Uganda have been called upon to fast track the creation of a common platform that will facilitate the sharing of information in order to promote commercial and economic diplomacy. The call was made by Mr. Nelson Ocheger, the Charge¡¯d¡¯Affaires of the Uganda High Commission in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He was speaking during a meeting with representatives of the public and private sector that took place on May 4th, 2016 at Minna, the capital city of the Niger State.

Mr. Ocheger emphasised the need for Ugandan and the Niger State stakeholders to commence and sustain cooperation in the areas of commerce, trade, industry, investment, education and agriculture. This, he reiterated, will facilitate the respective states to meet the developmental needs of their citizens.

The Commissioner for Education in the Niger State Government, Hon. Ms. Fatima Madigu applauded the quality and standard of Uganda¡¯s educational system and emphasised her commitment to further educational cooperation between the two states. For his part, the Commissioner for Agriculture in the State Government, Hon. Alhaj Aliyu Abdullahi called for proper planning in the sector so as to meet the needs of the ever growing African populations.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Nurh Byarufu, the Counsellor at the Uganda High Commission, the Niger State permanent secretaries and representatives of the private sector.
